We’re all very excited about the new shows - will you be performing new material or just the classics?
Tony: Mostly the classics, that’s what it's all about with just a couple of new ones thrown in for good measure.
Will you be playing the East17 songs in their original forms or will you be more experimental?
Tony: Well pretty much in their original form as in arrangement but with slightly different instruments/sound. There are no backing tracks running vocals or sequences so it's 100% live which is what I have always wanted to do.
How about the dance routines?
Tony: I choreographed all the early stuff and started out as a break dancer so I find it hard to stand completely still when music is around but as for actual choreographed dance routines, hmmm! Well, maybe another time when there is a bit more room
Will you be playing the guitar / piano or just singing?
Tony: What do you prefer? I kinda prefer guitar strangely enough, its more compact and less of a barrier between myself and the audience. I did want some keyboards onstage too but we are fighting with space in this venue, which I love the thought of. I Will make a final decision nearer the day but for now I am sticking with the Fender a little stomp box. I am planning a drum duet with Stephan my drummer but that's at some point in the future - stage permitting.
What’s your studio setup?
Tony: Oooh a sexy one! I have had a studio since my teens and it was just an Atari1040st and a Korg M1 back then with an AKAI s950 sampler, but now it's a little more complex.
Mac OS X 10.5.6 2x2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 6GB of RAM.
Korg Triton Rack
Roland JV1080
MPC 5000
2 x Genelec 1031A
Motu 2408 MK11
MTP AV midi timepiece
Focusrite 7 pre amp
Rode NT2 mic
Fender and acoustic guitars etc...
Who else have you been writing for / producing?
Tony: I try to help out up and coming artists working with some really talented young hopefuls over the years. Although there's a lot more to being a successful artist than merely having a good voice, it takes massive amounts of dedication/drive/luck and commitment just to name a few.
